Grant Proposal:

Enhancing Geospatial Intelligence for Coral Reef Conservation

Project Title: Advancing Location Intelligence for Coral Reef Conservation through  GIS Technology as a Due Diligence Global Effort.

Introduction:

Coral reefs are vital ecosystems that support a quarter of all marine life and provide essential services to coastal communities. However, they face unprecedented threats from climate change, pollution, and unsustainable human activities (Anthropocene). Innovative conservation strategies are needed to address these global challenges, grounded in a comprehensive understanding of reef ecosystems and the factors impacting their life span. This project seeks funding to enhance the World Federation for Coral Reef Conservation's (WFCRC) Collaborative Beach and Coral Reef Registry Platform by integrating advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology from the Earth Science Research Institute (ESRI). GIS provides a powerful platform for visualizing and analyzing spatial data, revealing critical patterns, trends, and relationships in coral reef ecosystems. By enhancing our geospatial intelligence capabilities, we will empower conservationists, researchers, and citizen scientists to make data-driven decisions that promote long-term health and resilience of coral reefs globally
